What are the six basic methods of machine processing?

The form of machining varies according to the requirements of different materials and products. The traditional machining method is about the lathing, pliers, washing, planing, grinding and so on. With the development of mechanical science and technology, also appeared electroplating, wire cutting, casting, forging and powder processing and so on.

So what are the forms of machining?

1, turning

Turning is mainly due to the rotation of the workpiece, through the turning tool to cut the workpiece into the required shape. The surface of rotation is formed on a copy lathe or numerical control lathe by feeding the tool along a curve. Another kind of rotating surface production, is the use of forming tool, transverse feed. In addition to the processing of thread surface, end plane and eccentric shaft can also be used for turning processing.

2, milling

Milling processing mainly depends on the rotation of the tool. Milling is divided into horizontal milling and vertical milling.

3, planing

Planing is mainly a reciprocating linear motion of the tool to cut the workpiece. The speed of planing is relatively low and hence productivity is low. However, the precision and surface roughness of planing are more stable than that of milling.

4, grinding

The grinding process mainly depends on the grinding wheel and abrasive tool to process the workpiece, and depends on the rotation of the grinding wheel. In the grinding process of the grinding wheel, the abrasive particles on the grinding wheel are mainly used for cutting, cutting and sliding on the workpiece surface. The abrasive itself is gradually blunt from the sharp, so that the cutting action becomes worse, the cutting force becomes larger.

5, tooth surface processing

Tooth surface processing is a new way of processing, this way of processing is divided into two categories: one is the forming method, the other is the development of the method.

6, complex surface processing

For complex surface processing, numerical control machine tools come in handy. Three - dimensional surface machining, mainly using copy milling and numerical control milling method or special machining method. A copy mill must have a prototype as a dependency. In the process of machining, the ball head copy head always contacts the prototype surface with a certain pressure. The motion of the copy head is transformed into inductance, and the machining magnification controls the motion of the three axes of the milling machine to form the trajectory of the tool head along the curved surface. The milling cutter adopts the ball end milling cutter with the first radius of the imitation head. The emergence of numerical control technology provides a more effective method for surface machining.

  1. Special processing

Special processing is different from the traditional machining machining mechanical processing, special processing can use physical (electrical, acoustic, optical, thermal, magnetic), chemical or electrochemical methods to process the workpiece material, so that the workpiece into the shape we need.
